Comment on The AI warning for Steam browser plugin adds Steam search filtering
echodot@feddit.uk 2 hours agoI’ll have to check it out. It’s never really occurred to me before that there could be plugins to add additional functionality.
What steam really needs is a “I found the game you’re searching for, but I’m pretty certain you actually mean this other game with a very similar name and that’s actually popular” feature. They can call it The Outer Wilds feature. I was trying to get my friends to download it so we could talk about it, and he kept telling me about this RPG it kept coming up with.

So I assume, it was an “Outer Wilds” vs “Outer Worlds” thing because i vaguely remember these two games being released close to each other, any confusing which is which myself.
I don’t remember having had issues finding the game I was looking for, but I just tried searching for “the outer wilds” on steam and didn’t get the game in the results, only a DLC for it - because the game is just called “outer wilds”, without the article. So I guess there is room for improvement in regards to the fuzzy search on steam.
Overall, the steam storefront is very usable as it is, even without extensions. And because the steam client is not much more than a browser engine, displaying that page, I can see why someone might use the client exclusively.
