eltrain123@lemmy.world 1 year agoThat’s pedantic. I wasn’t suggesting you use your phone while driving, I was describing the way you touch a screen. It is literally the exact same amount of distraction as pushing a button.
If you can’t handle touching a “fake button” without losing attention from the road, you probably shouldn’t be open operating heavy equipment at all.

Except there is no physical feedback, you NEED to look at that screen, I can manage 90% of my dash by feel and 90% of the controls I use are on my steering wheel.
Also everyone on the road isn’t you, I was nearly in an accident as a passenger because my driver was looking at the screen because there was no physical buttons.

The physical feedback is your finger touching the screen. If it’s a skill you can’t learn, you should stick to old cars with outdated technology. Everyone isn’t capable of keeping up with technology. It’s fine.
Sounds like whoever drives you around is as incompetent as you are at managing their driving with new technology. You should find people with more coordination to drive you around.

Close.your eyes and operate your fucking center console. Can you? No because you are touching a flat piece of glass ya tard. Feedback is some tactile response not tyou feeling the glass. Does the screen vibrate when you touch it?
You (and the designers) are fucking WRONG. Physical buttons you can distinguish from one another. You putting down people to make yourself feel superior is your way of justifying buying a total piece of shit.
And once again, cars are built for the masses, if it is unsafefors them then it is a terrible design and should go back to the known good way.
Go and put square tires since its such a good idea, infinite. Stopping power!

Why would I close my eyes? I’m driving?
Most of the controls I need to operate while I’m driving are on the edge of the screen and you can feel the edge to know where to t or ch.
But I don’t have a problem glancing at the screen for a half second to know for sure where the control is. Just like you glance at your rear view or side view mirrors and take your eyes off the road for a fraction of a second.
If you can’t use a use a touch screen, do you not check your mirrors? It’s not that complicated. This is a you problem that is either incompetence or you trying to find something to bitch about because you don’t like new shit. Go shake your fist at the sky and tell the kids to get off your lawn.
