  I am not sure of the wisdom of shutting down everything that can be used badly.

  Especially given that since people liked this site there is a market and it will be filled by someone who isn’t going to make an effort to control it. Whatever comes after Omegal will be based in a nation where they are immune from civil suits. You have replaced legitimate regulated with gray market. The next person of course will have a reason to not cooperate with LEOs for fear of liability.
