Lemmy is not at all an accurate reflection of reality. Nobody in my day to day life is going to argue that communism is far superior to capitalism. That’s part of the problem. Us internet dwellers think this is what real people are like but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Which is extremely toxic at the moment. 😕 I used to think talking about our differences in forums like this would help, but it seems that no one actually wants to listen to anything but their own echo chambers anymore.

How do you feel about Bernie Sanders where it’s a socialist democracy with capitalism? So medicaid, universal healthcare, unemployment, etc., are there and should be expanded to cover everyone?

Did you mean "social democracy"? I don't think there's actual socialism anywhere there - that's still capitalism, only with a strong welfare system, which has downsides, but it's obviously viable at least in some societies.

It’s a combo of both socialism and capitalism by combining the two.
According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Furthermore, everything that people produce is in some sense a social product, and everyone who contributes to the production of a good is entitled to a share in it. Society as a whole, therefore, should own or at least control property for the benefit of all its members.
This conviction puts socialism in opposition to capitalism, which is based on private ownership of the means of production and allows individual choices in a free market to determine how goods and services are distributed.

I’m down. I’ve found that people genrally want the same things, we just disagree at how best to get there.

I’ve found that people personally want the same things but have wildly different assumptions about how the rest of us are a threat or asset to those aims.
