Comment on ‘Tragic and unnecessary’: Truck driver didn’t see cyclist hit and killed
DavidDoesLemmy@aussie.zone 1 year agoTrucks have a long history of running over cyclists and pedestrians. They are known to have poor visibility, when turning especially. Often the police find the truck driver did nothing wrong, but they didn’t see the person. This points to a systemic problem rather than a behavioural problem of truck drivers.

Often Police find that the driver did nothing wrong because there was nothing more they could’ve done.
Recent cars have an amazing array of sensors and safety features which minimise blind spots. It’s time to mandate such technology in all trucks, not just more mirrors but alarms and annoying lights
