But Germany has a higher percentage of immigrants (18,8 vs 15 8%) as well as immigration than the US (2,36 mn vs 1 mn, or 3% vs 0,3%)?

Obviously a temporary anomaly because of Ukraine. Long term German population is expected to decline while US population is expected to continue to grow. Driven by immigration, not birth rate.

It is also about a quarter to fifth of the US’ size.
