Comment on Time to grow up.
abraxas@sh.itjust.works 8 months agoOne would hope that people bothered by these things would take their time to visit a farm and see the full experience and relationship of cows and farmers, instead of making major life decisions off snippets.
For example, it seems minimally fair to show the outcome of cowfights (the reason we dehorn them), or to depict that the options (for any animal) are domestication, wild, or anti-natalism. People bothered by these things are likely to be equally bothered by a cow bleeding out slowly in the jaws of a predator animal, OR the idea of basically wiping out the species.
A lot of things that gross vegans out are for the good of the cow, but make wonderfully horrific soundbytes.

Why would I want to watch propaganda? Also, what’s “fail” about it? I’d rather watch a real animal be slaughtered, prepared, and eat it than watch some “exposé” designed to scare and disgust people.
You sound like you’re 12. You’re not even making bloody sense.
Why are you singing “miss me” because I’m not going to kiss you. I don’t know if English isn’t your first language or if you’re just a middle-schooler, but when you insult someone with broken English you look pretty sad.

You said it yourself, but yeah you do misunderstand.
Like I said it’s not meant for people like you. It’s meant for people who I don’t need to convince that what we unnecessarily do is wrong, you’ll feel it if you have the empathy, and that’s entirely on you and your morality bro.
The people this will reach and make think, will tell people what needs to be done, and even when they know, and don’t want to do it because irrelevant reasons, they STILL do what needs to be done, because compassion.
If you don’t get it, it’s OK! It’s not meant to “be got” by you.

Unfortunately, it’s not explained much better here, but let me try to respond.
You seem to be falsely accusing me of lacking empathy. I can’t really respond with more because you’re still not giving me a coherent reply. And I tend to lean on ethics more than morality. Right and Wrong should be quantifiable things, not things other people have convinced us of. I have a feeling I know a whole lot more about morality and ethics than you do, and have probably spent a whole lot more time seriously considering the implications of things like veganism. I just concluded different than you.
That’s why I’m here. Fighting propaganda and lies. It’s easy to convince somebody to join a cult if they only hear the cult’s side of things.
Nobody should be making important decisions about their lives or the world over irrational emotion and personal trauma. That’s not compassion, it’s brainwashing.
Trust me, it’s not going to “be got” by anyone. Since I actually spent time trying to reply, I can tell you that everyone else will be 1 line in on yours and say “I have no idea what this guy is saying” and move on. I’m not afraid of you convincing people to be vegan. I’m afraid of other, more eloquent propagandists doing so
