A lot of forms of divination are for seeking guidance in your life and a tool for being mindful of what you are doing and where you are going more meditative if that makes sense. The idea that it’s for picking the lotto numbers or a winning horse is rooted in greed so it doesn’t work because of the intent. Apparently you can game the system though by using people with no knowledge of the intent. Russel Targ had some success with trading silver using remote viewers.
