It was cheaper because it was not sealed-box new, otherwise it would’ve been more than the lower-spec $895 one 3 months ago when it still existed.

True, the open box one would’ve been cheaper. I do know for a fact that I saw a MSI laptop with these specs in December for around $700. I’ve never been in the market for a 4050, so I can’t speak to previous pricing there.
