Matriks404@lemmy.world 11 hours agoIf you go to the social media like Facebook and Instagram and look at stuff people post from objective point of view both sexes are equally bad at posting sexist shit. And yet if you go to real world, like a bar or some different social gathering place nothing of this shit matters. It’s just social media brainwashing by corporations which Is done just for profit, nothing else.

True! But I’m concerned that, as more young people have Internet as their primary third place and communication platform, more will be dragged into this bullshit for real, so, whether we like it or not, it’s an important place to consider.
I believe moderators should take more care to eliminate such harmful content from discussion, while we as users can take greater care to neuter it. Then we could start reclaiming normality in our communication despite the efforts do distract and engage.
