I mean, the pilot is one of the weaker episodes in the series. They hadn't quite figured out what they wanted to do with the characters.

It's like saying you hate spaghetti because you looked at it for a minute. There's six seasons, and they're judging the whole thing off only the pilot... everybody knows the pilot doesn't count. Pilots are often not even cannon to the rest of a series, they're merely tools to sell concepts. Ah well, everybody's entitled to their opinions.

Historically the pilot episode is always the golden standard of a show, of course. In fact you really only need to see the cold open of any pilot and you’ll fully understand everything that the show will be about.
