Comment on YSK that a general strike is one of the most effective ways to push for change. There is a general strike in the works across the US for this Friday.

I’d be unemployed, who would I be collectively bargaining with, the welfare office?

There’d be no high paying jobs, because those jobs go to the union guys. The guys in the union I am not in. Because I’m still on the waitlist.

What you want is more people join unions so that eventually all jobs are unionized, because otherwise it’s hard to find workers. That will lead to a different dynamic between employer and employee.

One thing you can do now is join the iww for example. They can’t help you if you are forced to take a shitty job now, but if more people join you’ll eventually have power at your job.

Pretty easy if you’re not just focused on your own immediate benefits…

If nobody joins nothing will change for sure

  More people would love to join the unions, but they can’t, because they’re on waitlists to join the unions.
