This is where I started getting confused as hell in the manga
Maybe my comment would help?
On a side note, if this is the level of writing in the manga and the anime studio just (“just” is doing some heavy lifting, I know) adapted it, then kudos to the manga author.
I thought it was all the anime director, elevating the source material.
