That’s weird. I have several and repaired these for a while. I put 1.2V rechargeable nimh batteries in and they work great. When I was younger and these handhelds were still the hottest shit in town I had a whole bag of rechargeable batteries on me while traveling. Modern batteries hold their charge a lot better than they used to, so things only improved over the years. Might wanna check that again.

Peffse@lemmy.world 1 week agoI dug out mine out of the closet recently and was so confused when it didn’t power on properly. Turns out, the .3v difference between a Duracell and an Eneloop really matter when you scale it to 6 cells!

The only way to go is a wall charger, that's how I played mine 95% of the time. I had a car charger too for road trips.
