If your partner gets sick, these bacteria can be the difference between you getting infected or not.
However, unless your immune system is literally non-existent, the bacterial spread is absolutely harmless and will not hurt you in any way whatsoever. And if your immune system is non-existent, I think you’ve got bigger problems than wether or not a bit of poop bacteria gets on the shower curtain or door handle.

Regardless of immune system integrity, the area around the toilet is objectively easier to clean with lid down flushing; cuts down on micro droplets.

I disagree. If you’re not cleaning the area around the toilet thoroughly enough to clean those droplets, you’re not actually cleaning it anyway.

That’s like saying it’s just as easy to wash your hands regardless of how filthy they are. The more grime, the more scrubbing, due to layering.
