Even though this is rule breaking content, I’m still going to engage with it.

What you’re describing is close to an analysis done by Lenin in Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism.

Imperialism is capitalism at that stage of development at which the dominance of monopolies and finance capital is established; in which the export of capital has acquired pronounced importance; in which the division of the world among the international trusts has begun; in which the division of all territories of the globe among the biggest capitalist powers has been completed

As long as capitalism remains what it is, surplus capital will be used not for raising the standard of living of the masses, but for increasing profits by exporting capital abroad, to backward countries

The war of 1914–1918 (i.e. WW1) was an imperialist war, a war for the division of the world, for the partition and repartition of colonies and spheres of influence of finance capital, etc.

The uneven and spasmodic development of individual enterprises, individual branches of industry, and individual countries is inevitable under capitalism.

and

Peaceful alliances prepare the ground for wars, and in their turn grow out of wars; the one conditions the other

Essentially, war occurs because capitalism develops unevenly. Rising powers demand a new division of the world’s resources; leading to war. Thus, modern wars are fights over redistributing control, not defending freedom or national honor.
