VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 5 days agoEr, no. A Linux program from five years ago probably won’t run on a current distro if it hasn’t been maintained in four years. A Windows program released twenty years ago and never patched has pretty good odds of running on Win10 without even needing to touch the compatibility tab.

In my experience neither of those are true, on linux unless a dependency was dropped a 4 year old program will still probably work fine and a 20 year old program on windows will likely have some glitches which may or may not be problematic.
