I still end up using the Youtube app on my phone sometimes and I’m absolutely floored at the audacity of even making the first video an ad. Total, absolute, utter bullshit.

I have a Google phone, which has YouTube embedded on it. I can’t remove it. I had to disable it, then tell my phone to redirect all YouTube links to my browser. Now I can block ads again!

You can remove it, with adb. Rather simple when it’s set up.

Might be simple for you, for me and for many around here, but… anything that involves adb is far from simple to the vast majority of people who use Android

I suppose; however, I usually link a few sites that basically hold a users hand while leading them through it. Including text to copy and paste into the command line and how to open the command line. Pretty much anything that might be a barrier is taken care of.
