Technically, Thanksgiving actually celebrates the brief period before the genociding began.

Typical American cartoon. The world is bigger than the US. Thanksgiving celebrates the US genocide, the rest of the world doesn’t do that.

The planning and execution of the genocide, before people actually started dying.
So it’s not celebrating all the people dying, but the successful plan of convincing the ones they were about to kill they were actually a good, caring and giving person while in fact they just future-killed them by giving them a fatal disease. “Those were my ancestors! We should honor them by slaughtering loads of turkeys to show we’re capable of doing the same.”

Australia celebrates the raping and pillaging of the natives in Australia every jan 26th. I’m sure there are other countries who celebrate similar stuff.

Exactly! Around here, around the same time, we celebrate the story of how some dude didn’t wanna become bishop, so he hid within a flock of geese, but the geese started to make noise and the dude was found and appointed bishop against his will! As a result we eat duck…
