Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019…
This phrasing is so common and so nearly verbatim that it’s hard not to wonder if we’ve got some Minitrue action happening here.

It's the new politically correct way of saying "committed" suicide. My understanding is that it's to lesson the accusatory stigma and shifting the blame away from the will of the individual to the state of their mental health, similar to how you would say someone died from a heart attack instead of died by eating a cheeseburger at every meal.

Yes, but… there is a lot of controversy over if Epstein actually committed suicide or not. Saying that he did over and over again, where in the past how someone died would not be brought up ad nauseam, seems more like a statement of political propaganda than anything else.
Like, normally you’d stop saying “x, who died by a heart attack” after a while too.

There’s no evidence he died any other way. Just because we all believe you-know-who would do it doesn’t mean he did. If you know it was homicide, do you also buy the National Enquirer for the latest news about aliens?

Believe it or not, “there is a lot of controversy” isn’t actually the same as “I hold a strong belief”.
