The section on pigs and chickens in the streets starts with “Although animals sometimes did walk around towns and villages, in films and television drama they appear to be everywhere, all the time, just wandering around doing whatever they wanted.” So it’s actually just about it not being as bad as what wee see in the movies and on TV and not what the bingo card implies about their being no chickens at all. I guess the actual myth wouldn’t have fitted on the card.

I mean, most of them ARE probably true. It depends on where in the world you were, but muddy streets are definitely a thing.
