Edit the config to unbind all defaults, and define your own keybinds as you need them, using what’s most intuitive for you and building memory.
Or you can just use one if the plethora of guis…

MPV lacks a graphical user interface so I have to keep the hotkey list open to use it. Normally I use VLC but it can’t play some files right.

I front-end mpv with smplayer.
It’s enough for my purposes.
