They are starving and freezing the disabled and elderly, criminalizing opposition to genocide, hanging their sins on trans people, and surrendering to private enterprise on every front. In many respects they surpass the previous government in their frothing bloodlust. What leftist would claim these freaks?

You are confused.
Liberals pose as leftists in order to define the leftmost limit of acceptable politics in a capitalist society - at best pushing just a few broken-by-design reforms to temporarily take the edge off. Actual leftists want the forces of democracy to overrun capitalism completely and permanently, rather than make futile attempts to appease it as the liberals do. Capitalist governments can only allow real leftists token representation at the most, and usually not even that, as it is imperative the ‘common sense’ be maintained that capitalist relations emerge from nature rather than from constant, feverish maintenance on the part of the propertied classes who stand to benefit.
You aren’t on a corporate platform where you can talk like an american cable news pundit without anyone pointing out how ridiculous you sound.

If liberals aren’t on the left, where are they?
The right are the ones that want democracy - power to the people, small government, well defined laws and regulations, and fair elections. The left and liberals want communism and authoritarianism. They crave it. They want to be controlled and given their rations, with extreme censorship and no differing views allowed, punishable by death.

You have an american media understanding of what left and right are.
The rest of the world, and everyone who reads books, know that right and left as political terms originated in the period of the French Revolution, in which the forces who wanted to retain the absolute rule of kings sat on the right of the aisle in parliament, and those who wanted rights and rule of law were on the left. They quickly became generalized, with right then meaning the tendency to concentrate power in the incumbent oligarchic class, and left becoming synonymous with the tendency toward democratization. This is how scholarly people the world over use the terms to this day.
You have adopted the corporate media’s usage, wherein right and left become team-sports markers with no permanent grounding in policy. It is a disempowering understanding of the world, which is why billionaires invest so much money in promoting it to the masses. It is one of the forms of guillotine insurance.
Conservatives and liberals are both guardians of capitalist power - they are both firmly on the right. They are each funded by an almost identical collection of billionaire and corporate donors. Conservatives are mostly direct and overt about it. Liberals are more sly - their function is absorb and dissipate leftist pressure so that it cannot consolidate into a coherent, independent force. Wearing the skins of the social movements they strangle, the liberals then pin their own crimes on “socialism”, to braying conservative applause. If that’s the spectacle you want to stay lost in, suit yourself. But in that case, I think you’d feel more at home on Reddit.
