I am beginning to understand more due to your comment and trying to research but the internet is full of falsehoods and garbage, why I am reaching out to my Lemmy community because I left Reddit due to trash mods. I know here people actually care and try to help other people. So honestly, thank you!

I appreciate you comment because I am over her reeling, my family left all that government because it horrid and came here legally unlike Trump’s family of war dodgers, both him and Elon’s family came here illegally so what he is doing is so savage! I just can’t wrap my head around everything going on.

I get about 30 calls a day asking me, “to come the immigration office and verify my status” the message comes in English then in Mandarin… I speak neither. My dad is from Vietnam came here with a sponsor and became a citizen and I was born here… it’s honestly terrifying. I am legit scared for my safety. ICE is out of control right now.

Personally, I don’t oppose Trump for being a draft dodger or Elon for being an “illegal immigrant”. It’s… literally everything else.

IMO when the drafts were active, Americans had an ethical duty to get out of them because the wars America fights are for private interests. And no one should be illegal, i.e. following the law with respect to immigration only shows the wealth of the immigrant and says nothing about their character. For example, if I was to propose a law that instantly made all immigration legal, would you oppose that?

I just can’t wrap my head around everything going on.

American politics is weird and complicated. Take it slow.

  Yeah, the 30 calls I get a day asking me to come “verify my status” is terrifying. I am scared about ICE every time I got into the city and I am legal. I want to cry just thinking about my doctors appointment on Monday in the city.
  
  But I am talking about Trumps dad who dodged the war coming to America for refuge to avoid fighting in the war… not Donnie orange face and his made up bone spurs. His family legit came from Germany to avoid fighting illegally. They came here illegally regardless of what was going on just like many so it’s savage what’s happening.
  
  This is the same reason almost all refugees come to America, to avoid conflicts, wars, and drug cartels… but now we are sending people all over the world paying whatever country to take them (because they are illegals), right? Legit am asking, not sarcasm (internet can’t understand my voice) legit trying to understand.
  
  And I know American politics and the geo politics that are involved make my head spin because I believe they try to justify all their actions and it’s only hurting our economy and country.

I almost completely agree with PM_ME_etc. Even to the part that yes, you are afraid of China and Chinese cultures in ways that are not necessary.

At the same time, it is China’s goal to turn the west towards authoritarianism. Many parts of MAGA’s political goals are coaligned with those of China, even if their goals regarding economy politics are extremely different.

Currently an increasing share of the western consumption is fed by factories in China. We’re currently practically completely able to produce mobile phones without China, because even if the phone is made in Mexico or South Korea, it is still made of Chinese components, such as the tiny torx screws not made in scale in a reasonable quality anywhere else than China.
Eventually China will shut down that trade. It will hurt China, but if as a consequence China can get us under its command, they will gain more than they lose.

Currently it would be extremely crucial to support industrial production practically anywhere outside China, some clear cases, such as NK, of course excluded. An amount of sinophobia is very necessary to make this happen!

  Thank you! This was the most informative comment I have received. I think I know the understanding of what’s truly going on with trade, the way Trump is trying to change our country in an authoritative state, and all around got information I truly needed as media is portraying it one way but not the truth just “their truth” and I have learned most media outlets are owned by them. And with Kirk’s death it just terrified me to see the amount of support that came from the GOP and making him into a martyr and that’s what happened before and why my family left.
