I don’t think it’s the same as the USA where people literally crossed over continents to invade

pulsewidth@lemmy.world 1 day agoYou miss their point. The original inhabitants of the British isles are long forgotten and have largely been replaced by invaders, colonists, and immigrants (some listed in OP’s comment) for millennia.
There are no ‘real Brits’. Britain is a multilingual melting pot of different peoples and cultures, and it always has been for as far back as we’ve been able to look in history, the first major immigrations from mainland Europe happening around 4000bc or so.

I’m a bit confused, I’m not sure if you mean the US or the UK, because both countries have done that, and both lands have been populated with that same method as well.

I really don’t think it’s comparable at all

Maybe you miss their point, perhaps because they didn’t use a /s.
In the mind of the racist dingleberries there are white immigrants (including but not limited to Celts, Romans, Normans, Saxons, Vikings) who are ‘real Britons’ and then there are brown immigrants who are clearly not ‘real Britons’, on account of how they don’t look like us but do like spicy food.
