Geologist@lemmy.zip 1 day agoI believe these would be fine, as being able to stop the rear wheel via the chain is a kind of braking device.
Also, don’t most fixies have a small front brake anyways? I don’t see many fixed gears in Tokyo (probably due to the hills), but there was a ton of them back in canada where the front brake seemed common-ish.

Bikes in Japan are essentially one gear. They don’t have diverse options for folks of different shapes and sizes, and terrains.
Recall, Japan is an archipelago, with numerous mountains, islands, and crammed obstacles. Mountain bikes should be the norm, but this fascist nation doesn’t invest in bicycle infrastructure.
Fuck cars.
