Issue is because Sandisk needs to submit a working update to Microsoft. Once the firmware is updated everything works as expected.

In the article it says the update was released by Western Digital 8 months prior. It’s not WD’s job to “submit” updates to Windows, they release it and Microsoft should fetch it, like linux distributions do on their own.
