I think saturdays used to be workdays too.
We need to turn fridays into another case like that.

Yes they did.
Probably Sundays too going further back. Was likely one of the big draws that was built into Christianity.

That predates christianity, judaism already had sabbath. I wonder if that was an original feature when judaism first came into existence or if the concept of a regular rest day is even older.
