I absolutely hated that episode for most of it, even fast-forwarded through a few parts, because not only am I sick of every TV show needing a musical episode (or four, fricken Magicians…ugh).
And I said through most of it that the only redeeming thing, the only thing I was continuing to watch the episode for, was because they mentioned it got to the Klingons, and I wanted nothing more than to see the Klingons singing.
And boy did they not disappoint. We rewound and watched the Klingon section two more times. Just amazing. Made up for the whole thing (mostly).

Meanwhile, I’m listening to the songs on Spotify.

Hey, I tried to listen as soon as the episode ended but they weren’t up yet so I had to just go back and replay that part of the episode

I haven’t seen the episode, because I don’t have access to any streaming platform that has it, but I listened to the songs on Spotify and they are very good. It’s a good musical and it works, because they acknowledge it in universe.
From what I have seen, the TrekCulture ups and downs on YouTube, and other clips, it seems to me that strange new worlds has a lot in common with lower decks: it doesn’t take itself to seriously, like disco did, but manages to be serious nonetheless.
Oh and Spock’s smooth voice and Pike’s hair and eyes, without them it would not be the same!
