It’s not a big task, and doesn’t take much time. Self hosting is ridiculously easy. There are so many easily deployable containerized git hosting images ready to roll.

tmp0730@programming.dev 21 hours agoI don’t think this is true. People didn’t want to host their own. It’s a pretty big task that takes time and attention away from other activities. Especially if you want your repo to face the public. Just keeping it secure can be a part-time job.
Perhaps it is becoming more feasible these days.
