Perhaps most importantly, there’s no reason to think them incapable of independent thought. The problem is that they are too comfortable not exercising it.

I apologize on their behalf, comparing that poster to a worm is an insult to perfectly fine, upstanding worms. I assume, even without investigation, that snakes and caterpillars are among them. I even know a work who’s a doctor (not a real doctor but he is an actual worm)

No fuck that, if someone is in the habit of arrogantly pontificating on topics they haven’t even done the bare minimum of research, dunking on their ass is a good way to teach them humility and encourage them to either stfu or at least try and do some investigation before opening their pie hole. Being nice to ignorant people and jerking them off constantly just encourages their complacency.
You’re make a false dichotomy to justify your own complacency in doing what you find to be cathartic rather than what is actually beneficial.
