  Their lawyers made them put that in as an “avoid a lawsuit” catch-all after other companies have been sued for violating biometric privacy laws.

    Aren’t they already violating biometric privacy laws by unnecessary permissions? At least GDPR says company should not ask for things that are unnecessary for providing service.
