It shouldn’t be, the evidence has been plentiful and easily available. It’s not particularly crazy either, evil for sure but entirely in line with the interests of our ruling class and extremely historically precedented. Some folks just have to learn the hard way I guess.

I get it, but if you pitched this to a movie studio they’d say it was far fetched, so the average person can be forgiven, I think.

Movie studios are frequently run by morons, anyone who isn’t completely politically & historically illiterate could tell you it’s not far-fetched at all, and this person had the money for an international vacation so they’re definitely not representative of the average anyway

I think you’re underestimating the normalcy bias and overestimating how much the average person outside the US understands about what’s going on there.
