That picture makes it seem like they’re doing a really roughshod job pf removing these. Are they really okay without followup care? It looks like there’d be a high chance of infection.

It’s not though, I’ve heard of this program before, and they’ve done similar with elephants. It’s disgusting it needs to be done, but it does provide a net benefit from what I’ve read in the past.

I remember reading about some really good fake ivory making a big hit against the trade. Hopefully something like that could help the rhinos too.
I also wonder if poachers could be insentivised to dehorn instead of killing as another harm reduction.
