Comment on Germany Is Using AI to Erase Pro-Palestinian Speech

This discussion is about some peculiarities in German law concerning hate speech. And about how it might be considered hate speech if someone were to call for the termination of that country. This has nothing to do with whether one or two stated or other ideas might be better or worse.

The law doesn’t apply on normal people or an lemmy instance managed by German admins. It target only organizations or project receiving funding from German government.

The Bundestag reaffirms its decision to ensure that no organizations or projects that spread antisemitism, question Israel’s right to exist, call for a boycott of Israel or actively support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement receive financial support."
