AFAIK that’s on nintendo’s update release validation. Most indie games release updates later on switch because the alternative would be to make all other platforms wait
Comment on No Man's Sky is somehow coming to mobile, and Hello Games says it's partly thanks to Light No Fire

Instead of putting it on even more platforms they won’t keep the version consistent across, maybe fix the release schedule for the platforms it already supports? I bought it on the Steam Sale partly to play cross-play with my girlfriend who has it on Switch 2, but we can’t actually cross-play despite it advertising it because Hello Games can’t synchronize the publish dates for patches like literally every other major cross-play game. Why is version mismatch an issue on the released builds? It’s ridiculous.

It’s frustrating in particular for this game though, because you can go several days without being able with friends after an update. Personally, it stopped me from playing because I would frequently go back and forth between Xbox and Switch 2 and it’s the same issue.

This might be due to Nintendo taking their sweet time certifying new builds.
Other developers hold back PC versions of their games until every console manufacturer has approved updates, but Hello Games is apparently not willing to do this.
