Comment on UK special forces veterans accuse colleagues of war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan

You know you fucked up when someone who was at your side fighting for your lives is the one who turns you in.

The person who turned them in clearly has a good conscience and prolly had their back in many fire fights. Its crazy to think that, that same person who prolly had their back in the most horrible wartime conditions and prolly trusted their life in their fellow brother’s hands, saw them do something so awful that it made them go against all the associated instincts that come with that level of trust and turned their brother(s) in.

I’m not saying the guy who was turned in was trustworthy. I’m just saying that there is a very high level of trust and support that is required to be in active duty combat. Its not much different than the concepts which allow corruption to spread so easily through police departments. I dont doubt there are good cops coming out of the academy who see other cops do shit they think is wrong but have been in situations together where their life depended on the cops in their department having their back when their life was perceived to be dependent on the other cop’s abilities and timing.
