My great grandmother (meemaw) had severe dementia, and one time in a moment of clarity she said I believe that you’re a child twice, at the beginning and the end.

She lived to 96. Luckily my grandparents that I loved, her daughter (mamaw) and her daughter’s husband (papaw), died relatively much sooner once dementia set it. Unfortunately my grandpa lived with it for about ten years but it was only a couple years for my grandma. In great grandma’s case, she was falling in dementia around the time I was born.
