Sanctus@lemmy.world 3 days agoI get told I’m a Russian hacker when I post it and people are faced with my “did you download Element or some sort of client?” page. The QR was something we chose not to setup as it seemed to not work too well, at least with our server.
Running it is pretty easy, we have a little service in a space that we can send commands to and we dont even have to login to synapse. The guy making the real magic on the backend setup some sort of s3 buckets and that made data management a breeze. I like it, but discord user features still kick the shit out of Matrix.

Fair enough, yeah I might still dabble in trying it out if I find the time. I just hate adds and apps to a pathological degree, so if discord gets too gross I wanna know how hard it would be to jump ship lol. Thanks for the insights!

No problem, revolt is painless to switch to if you dont need video sharing. I prefer it to Matrix just for vidya voice chat its easy.
