I've also printed a few thingies for the car and my experience is, PLA deforms on the first hot day and you can throw it out. PETG lasted 2-3 years for me until it became brittle and broke.

How does it handle the heat of being in a car? The mirror housings I made for my dirt bike got a bit soft just being outside in summer sun (until I annealed them), and inside a car can get pretty toasty. My mirrors were PLA though, if you’re printing with higher temperature material it might not be an issue.

I’ve made it out of PETG so a hot summer day shouldn’t be an issue.

The battery in the phone won’t be too happy with the heat either.

Nice name. I live in the Netherlands so for the next few years summers will be bearable for the most part.

Don’t count on it. On really hot days the interior of a car sitting under the sun can reach petg’s glass transition temp. I’ve had petg prints, also attached to the visor as it happens, soften up and deform in my car.
