Comment on AI ‘wingmen’ bots to write profiles and flirt on dating apps
seven_phone@lemmy.world 1 year agoEverything is catfishing, when you put your best foot forward or wear your best shirt or be funnier or cooler than you actually are. Same as couples used to court but courting is grooming, it is the modern world’s desire to terrorise everyone into passivity by demonising the simple everyday activities of life.
Eh… putting your best foot forward doesn’t imply you’re like that all the time. It’s different.
Catfishing is lying. It’s putting forward something you aren’t ever.
And if that’s not the case, and we’ve diluted the meaning of catfishing, we need another term that means that
I mean, I guess. But normally I’m the one putting my best foot forward. I also don’t have to read my replies to figure out my personality before I show up to make sure my personality isn’t to far off from me.
