I like the lore that French food sucked until Catherine de Medici married the crown Prince of France and brought an entourage of cooks from Florence. It’s greatly overstated by Italians, but it’s still funny.
History of food is interesting, it doesn’t go in a straight line from ‘hey we can make fire’ to a renowned cuisine in a straight line obviously. Also the English food we all joke about obviously differs from the food the royals have now and then.
