Bookmarked. Though I guess it comes down to an „I can return my printer and get a full or partial refund“? Which, as long as no good alternative presents itself, doesn’t help me.
I know we don’t want to talk alternatives here, but that might still be an interesting discussion to have, once we get there.
I’m hoping all the noise makes BL rethink sone choices before the new firmware goes live.
At best, they will change their mind enough that we don’t loose anything significant, and we can just keep our printers.
Then all we have to consider is if we trust BL enough to buy more printers from them. Or even if we want to buy their filament.
Their filament sucks, the only thing good about it is the RFID that tells AMS what colour it is.
If they do official support for people with developer mode turned on that’s fine by me and the issue is pretty much solved, I don’t mind losing cloud connectivity if I get full control over the printer and can do my own cloud if I want.
Yeah, it seems like “developer mode” is pretty much just “old fashion mode”. If they do it right, it looks like a solution to me.
But doing it right includes making it offially supported.
Yeah,it will come to that. It very much depends on what you look for. Qidi is currently an alternative - amongst others. The other big question is how long BL will take. The longer they take to release the better - simply because the competition then has more time to refine their options.
For some, me included, returning the printer and getting a refund might be a good option. If this goes down the “bad” path, I’m returning to klipper-based printers, even if this leads to more work and maintenance.

I would Return it in a heartbeat and go back to prusa. Sure, Theorie Multi-Material Solution is Not as good, but i rarely use it anyway.
