Having a “maximum bank balance” is so needlessly cruel. Like “you’re disabled. You must remain poor because you don’t deserve to have expendable income”. Fuck that. Fuck this country. It is a pile of fucking shit

That also applies to medical and similar programs. It makes no sense to punish someone for being able to save while living within their means.

Yeah, I had medical savings when I lost my job and about a year later turned 26 and applied for Medicaid. Unfortunately I had savings and therefore was ineligible for Medicaid. Fortunately the ACA filled the gap, but the job market in manufacturing (my career) was pretty bad when i lost my job in 2019, it was worse in 2020 to say the least.
