In 2022, 17% of all house­holds with chil­dren — rep­re­sent­ing 13.4 mil­lion kids — were grap­pling with food inse­cu­ri­ty, accord­ing to the USDA. In some of these house­holds, only adults were food inse­cure. In oth­er house­holds, chil­dren were direct­ly impacted.

The USDA esti­mates that 44.2 mil­lion peo­ple lived in food inse­cure house­holds nation­wide in 2022. Since these esti­mates do not include home­less fam­i­lies, the actu­al num­ber of chil­dren impact­ed by food inse­cu­ri­ty is even larger.

Also, fired is not the same as laid off. And if you get fired in an at-will state, you may not be entitled to unemployment.

The fact that you and others apparently have no compassion for the poor makes me wonder exactly what you’re protesting for.
