I am continuing my trend of checking out new series I find. Some quick impressions:
- The Story of a Girl Who Can Read Minds as recommended by @Endmaker@ani.social - very silly series about a woman that can read minds finding her perfect match. Very silly and quick chapters. I doubt this one will be running super long due to a relatively thin premise, but I am enjoying it while it lasts.
- Bus For Two - I picked this up after @Rottcodd@ani.social posted about it. It is really good and I ended up bingeing the whole way up to the current chapter. Very wholesome romcom that reminds me of stuff like They are Still Being Shaken This Morning or The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses.
- When I Repaired a Gal’s Bicycle, She Became Attached to Me - I picked this up after a post by @goreverminski@lemmy.world and have enjoyed it. It does fall into the convenient trap of an MC having very selective memory…but they move past that pretty quick. It has been very cute and I am looking forward to more.
- A Very Popular Idol Classmate has Taken a Liking to Me, a Person Who doesn’t Want to Work for my Whole Life - You know this is a LN adaptation with a title like that. I have enjoyed my time with this series so far, abut am not sure about how much further this story is going to go. It kind of feels like the story hit a pretty natural peak, so I am kind of expecting the typical romcom shenanigans to come into play to drag things out from here.

Halfway through chapter 1 and I already adore this series.
Sort of an overt version of the busdriver in Bus For Two - he’s extremely subtle, but you can tell he knows exactly what’s happening.
It reminds me of an anecdote - one of those perfect little fleeting experiences. I was walking down a mall on a Saturday afternoon, on a break from my job, when I noticed a boy and girl - both about 14 or so - sitting side by side on a bench. And she was radiating “kiss me” so strongly that I swear I could feel it from halfway across the mall. And meanwhile he was just sitting there with his hands clenched between his knees and a panicky look on his face, peering around everywhere but at her. And I sort of chuckled to myself and walked on. And then this guy fell into step beside me, and when I looked at him, he gestured back at them and said, “I remember when I was that stupid too.” I laughed and said, “Yeah - you and me both,” and we went our separate ways.
I’m looking forward to lots of that - thanks for the link. And I haven’t even checked out any of the others yet…
