Time and screen space are limited. When I take a poo break, I don’t want to have to wade through a bunch of posts in a language I don’t speak or about sports I care nothing about. But at the same time I am open to new communities that I might not have imagined even existed. So I just leave it on all and block the communities I’m not interested in. It was a lot of work at first, but it’s pretty nice now.
Comment on Did you know that you could block communities you don't like on lemmy instead of spamming downvotes?

Forgive me if I’m a bit of a thicky, but why is there a need to block communities? Doesn’t simply ignoring them work?

So it doesn’t shows up on All

People actually use that one? I only ever look at the ones I’ve subscribed to.

After browsing through Subscribed/New I usually check out All/Top 12 hours and All/Active. If I still feel the need to doomscroll I might venture into All/New. My Subscribed list isn’t moving very fast…

Ah right okay.
I only look at the ones I subscribed to myself. Different approach I guess.

New communities pop up, and older ones that didn’t have many posts sometimes get revived. So if I have the time and inclination I look at All after my Subscribed.

Well yeah, I look at All too, to make sure I’m not missing out on something interesting. But I must do that every month or so.
