    What about facing the remote downwards so its profile doesn’t block as much light?

    Or is that unpractical for some reason?

      The remote is IR, so it’s facing up so the receiver can see it. That said I don’t think it’ll work when the bag is full. It’s in the front pocket for easy access.

        Could you stitch a pocket on the back? When you aren’t using it, the remote can be turned around or inserted upside down so you don’t accidentally hit the buttons and change the color.
