Comment on Konpaku Youmu (by Tsumaseu)
vbb@lemmy.world 1 month agoI think danbooru rating system is fair. I want to avoid images focused on some human body parts or something that can’t be comfortably seen in front of other peoples. For example, this picture is clearly focused on lower part of Youmus body, judging by camera angle and amount of pictures space the mentioned part takes.
About mentioned post. In the past danbooru had Safe
rating, which included todays General
and Sensitive
pictures. After change in rating system, Safe
pictures ended up in Sensitive
group. It’s just no danbooru contributor stumbled upon it yet.

I’ll always do as a mod asks, but please provide your clear reasoning, rather than a reference to something which can be inconsistent and unclear.
So no focus on thighs/legs or butts. Understood.
I think that’s overly careful and a bit too close to the type of thinking done by people who ask women to “cover up”, but I’ll keep it mind.
While erring on the side of caution is nice, I think in this case you’re crossing into accommodating the kind of people who have hangups concerning the human body. Ones they should overcome, rather than demand the rest of humanity censor themselves for them.

If you want specifically my opinion, I just don’t like that focus, I don’t find it aesthetically pleasing. Turning on
rating:general
filter on danbooru increases density of a good content, since artists here seem to more often invest in things like a good composition, neat idea or cool reference, instead of pleasing someones fetishes. Not saying that there are no goodsensitive
works tho.If you want reasoning why are rules like that. Because this way they accommodate the most amount of peoples, assuming that
sensitive
lovers won’t get unhappy, because they don’t want to press the button. And NSFW mark doesn’t play the role of “the black mark” anyway, since such post are still getting good amount of upvotes here. Also I think that cherry-picking some extreme examples isn’t constructive, because the same can be done to the other group of peoples. Ironically, they seems to be more accommodated, since they can press the button and get what they want, while the extremes you are mentioning likely won’t be happy with something like: lemmy.world/post/19824550, lemmy.world/post/19799073, lemmy.world/post/19637909 .Please see safebooru.donmai.us/wiki_pages/howto%3Arate and rating of a specific picture.

Marking content NSFW when unwarranted isn’t inconsequential.
Lemmy allows users to completely disable the displaying of content which is marked NSFW, meaning when doing so, there is a percentage of users who won’t know it was posted at all.
Posts like this being marked NSFW is one of the reasons I can’t just use that feature to get rid of the actual porn I don’t want to see, and why I have to check every NSFW post to see what it is, including the ones I’d rather not.
One does not to be a sexual deviant to enjoy interesting compositions of the human body. I don’t enjoy this image I posted because it turns me on. I like it for all the other reasons that art is neat to look at.

There is no an uniform definition of NSFW. LW defines it as
erotic or otherwise suggestive media or
etc, which is left to interpretation. Being a community that is mainly focused on 2hu pics, it makes sense to adopt danboorus well explained definition with images having a rating. I don’t see a reason to introduce new system, which tries to follow flawed tagging system of Lemmy.
