No it isn’t. It’s a pretense that the class who controls the violent apparatus of the state is impartial. It’s propaganda and nothing else.

It's an ideal in that people should be working towards taking control of the state apparatus and making it so. The class struggle will always make it impossible to reach, but it can always be pushed to be better.masquenox@lemmy.world 3 months ago

Well, beyond that the alternative is to abolish the state, which I'm not against, but the ideal would remain.
